Money Magic Solutions: (Who you gonna call or click…) Arkansas Insurance Department
Consumer Services Division

You are one phone call away from someone who can help you understand the claims process with your policies. They will tell you what is and is not normally covered under standard types of policies.

If you find a policy, but can’t find the insurance company behind it, staff members of the state insurance department will assist you in your search. They know how and where to look.

It’s so nice to have someone to talk to about changes you may want to make, or how to understand the coverage you currently have. A friendly person in Jackie Smith’s department of Consumer Services can give a hand to you.

Booklets on ways to save money when buying auto, health, homeowners, or life insurance might be well worth your reading time. Just give them a call and have something mailed to you or visit with a member of the staff.

In the past year, over 200 locations have been visited where dislocated workers are supported to extend their health coverage with COBRA, or find other insurance coverage options. This is a vital service to folks who’ve been laid off or had the company they work for close.

ALERT: With health insurance costs skyrocketing, self employed and small groups have had a difficult time affording coverage. As a result, unauthorized companies have swooped into Arkansas and sold policies to unsuspecting people who only find out they’re not covered when they try to collect on a claim. They are referred to as “MEWAS” multiple employer welfare arrangements. Because these companies are not licensed in Arkansas, backup coverage is not available by the State Guarantee Fund. So, call the above phone number and ask

  1. Is this company licensed with the state insurance department?
  2. If things go south, will this product be covered by the Guaranteed Fund?
